I wanted to use unusual and bright colors for this one. It occurred to me that I have never seen a red and white mushroom like the ones you always see on fabrics. Is it that they don't grow like that in my region?

(edited to add: The magic of google showed me tons of photos of the famous red with white dots mushroom. I'll probably have to search really hard to find a blue one with purple dots.)

That's cute! I can never manage a smile on the faces of my embroideries - and if I do try, they always look a bit daft so I pull it out and given them back their grimace! We don't have any red and white mushrooms, just grey, brown, the occasional orange and a really evil fluoro yellow. Stitching is such fun!
Such beautiful stitching! I have been wanting to use that pattern of Andrea Zuill's for awhile and every time I see one it makes me want to make it more. I love the colours of your mushrooms, they are so cute!

How do you get your stitching to pop so much? How many strands do you use? And is that called chain stitching on the outlines?
I just bough some sublime stitching patterns but don't quite feel equal to them yet.

I dunno what your region is but those quintessentially cute (and hallucinogenic) red + white toadstools can be found in just about any temperate zone worldwide. That said, I've never seen them here in Canadia and I used to do a fair amount of mushroom hunting with my dad but I did come across a decent patch of them on the borders of a sheep pasture in Avebury UK while I was visiting there. Now you'll have me on the lookout for blue and purples ;)
