Merry Christmas!

favorite Santa ornament
That's my favorite Christmas ornament. I picked it out when I was about 3 years old and it's lasted all these years.

I'm still wrapping gifts and stitching up some last minute things that I doubt I'll be able to photograph. I made 2 of THESE today to hold the Jolly Rancher candies my children always long for and I never buy. I made a cool simple item for my mom and her travels, but it's a secret!

We stay home for Christmas and we want our family to know that we love and miss them and look forward to seeing them at less stressful times during the year!

Enjoy the holidays!

Hello Kitty wishes you a Merry Christmas!

  1. Hi Susie! This is Nancy. Guess what Santa brought me? A SEWING MACHINE!!!!! *squeee* omg it is GORGEOUS and SO MUCH FUN. I have already broke it in and have tons of panterns to do.

Btw - I made something similiar and I will post it later today. Been slow on the blog posting!

Is it okay if I ask you sewing questions? It has been so long that I SWEAR to you when I got my new sewing machine I sat their dazed because I would have sworn that all bobbins were made by hand and not by the machine! lol. My mom says I never learned it that way - but for some reason I remember that!!!

I got two books - one new and one was my grandmas on the basics of sewing with a machine and patterns. But a lot of the "gadgets" I am like OKAY this looks SO familiar but... what is it?! lol. I am even toying with a dress form but think I might put that off. I have to first figure out where I am going to make my craft room! Also omg Susie! I gave my mom the red riding hood purse you made and everyone in my family ADORED IT. They may be visiting your blog or ETSY!! *hugs* and hope to see you at our next meetup? Nancy

  2. Nan- Hooray! I'm so happy for you! I'm pretty much self taught with the sewing machine. My first was a very old singer from my Grandma and later she gave me an updated type, but I found nirvana when I bought a top line Husqvarna Viking. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have!

Get out your manuals and get a feel for threading it and running a straight stitch. I find that I don't really need too many special feet and other gadgets.

Thanks for letting me know about the reception of Red Riding Hood! I made up a wolf version in blue, but I've only done 2 and they already sold at a show.

  3. Hi again Susie! Husqvarna Viking *flails* THOSE ARE BEAUTIFUL MACHINES!!!! Which one did you get? I also found out my family bought Phaft - I thought they were Singers! lol.

I bought a Singer with *gasp* like 170 stiches!! I didn't even know that many existed! Also... I did my research and realized that the cheaper Singer I was going to buy? Was not the best bet - so I went with the Confidence/Companion line and I have all these feet and other fun stuff! I couldn't believe how much I spent on it - but I LOVE IT~! I will post the picture of my first ever project tonight.

Also guess what! My mom showed me a doll I made when I was like 10. I COULDNT BELIEVE IT but I did embroidery on the face! I have to take a picture of it for you. I wasn't *that bad* believe it OR NOT. The body shape is a BIT bad

Omg speaking of straight stiches? I cant seem to do that! I was able to thread it okay - but I couldn't figure out the instant needle threading... is it okay if I email you my questions later?

Oh cool - I am so glad the wolf bag got bought!

    Talk to you soon! Nan
